Quick Social Media Marketing Tips!

Social media marketing is a sore spot for some companies.  They feel as though they employ so many methods, create great content and still struggle to obtain that coveted spot of social media popularity for their brand.  All of marketing is trial and error so no marketer or company should ever feel as if they just aren’t doing it right.  It takes time and testing out different combinations of factors to see what your target audience needs most.
Continue making great content and, most important to it all, be completely genuine.  Don’t ever go into marketing simply looking for popularity or sales.  You will be hung out to dry like the sleazy car salesman you swear that you’re not.  Provide great information and solutions to your audience but test out different platforms, content types and promotions.
One of the biggest wants in social media is an increase in followers.  There are dozens of ways in which you can build on this but let’s take a look at the most forgotten of the strategies.  The more you implement, the better your odds but remember that there is so many others besides the few listed here.
Social Media Marketing Quick Tips
Handle Push – This is probably one of the most commonly forgotten items in social media marketing.  Sure, you push your social media handles (your usernames) all over the internet but what about in the real world?  You should put your key handles on business cards, brochures and other tangible marketing materials.  Don’t be afraid to shamelessly promote your social media profiles.  If you are attending a networking event or speaking at a conference, add it into conversation or attached to your slides.  You are networking everywhere you go on a daily basis so why not spread the social media love?
Hashtag Trends –  If you don’t already know about this I suggest you do a little research about popular hashtags on communities like Instagram and Twitter.  Essentially, there are certain universal hashtags that people use across the platforms to take part in an active community tradition.  #throwbackthursday (#tbt) or #picoftheday are the most popular today and create an opportunity where everyone can contribute on a weekly basis.  There is also a lot of energy behind joining popular trending hashtag movements, such as #metoo, when they first hit the scene to either share your story or show support.  This can pull in followers who feel as if you are on their level.
Pinning – Yep.  Pin your photos.  Of course I’m talking about Pinterest.  This phenom shows no signs of slowing and provides an amazing opportunity for brands to connect with consumers.  By pinning your best eye candy content, you can increase your follower base.  Think visual.  Any content you have that can be summed up in a photo or infographic works amazing.
Spy Time – The best way to see what types of content to post in order to engage your target audience is to spy on your competition.  There are so many different tools you can use to keep track of what folks say about you and your competition on social media and they can even help you determine which content really takes the cake as far as engagement.  Imitation IS the sincerest form of flattery, correct?  Use their content examples to help inspire you on different types or formats.  Whatever you do – don’t plagarize!  Simply use it as a guide on what you should create.
Why are you still reading this?  Get out there and put these into action, silly!

All About Value

“Content marketing is really like a first date.  If all you do is talk about yourself, there won’t be a second date.” – David Beebe When you produce content, it should be a genuine work that gives information, answers questions or solves problems.  The point to each piece of content should be solving a problem for your consumer or somehow, someway making their lives a little easier.  If your focus behind making content is simply to snare more consumers, you will achieve the opposite of what you intend. It’s similar to that movie “All About Eve” starring the late, great Bette Davis.  When everyone found out Eve had ulterior motives and was playing on everyone’s emotions just to get ahead, she was left utterly alone with her fledgling success and began to crumble.  If you produce content simply to boost your sales or increase your followers, consumers will smell it from a mile away and abandon you.  Any content that comes from you ...
